Any suggestions for this hair color?

I want to dye my hair at home and Ive never done it before so I need help choosing the color. I want the hair color in the picture and my hair is naturally very dark brown almost black. I know itll be hard for the color to show up without bleaching it but im not going to bleach my hair. I just want that red tint in my black hair. So any brand and color suggestions?? Theres way too many at the drug store to choose from. Please help.

Well, you can achieve an overall red "tint" to your dark hair color without bleaching, but it probably won't be as bright or as strong a red as the picture. I happen to think black hair with a hint of red this shade is very pretty actually. A few shades and brands I would recommend are:

~Garnier 100% Color in either 660 Intense Auburn or 366 Deep Burgundy Brown.

~Clairol Hydrience in 3RR Ruby Twilight or 34 Tropic.

Loreal also has a brand called Color Pulse, temporary shades for haircolor, that you could give a shot if you want to try something that isn't permanent first. The two shades I would recommend would be either funky cherry or chilled plum. Good luck!

when dying your hair, you can't dye all of it at once or it ends up looking bad.

start with highlights of the color you want. it should probably be a lighter shade of brown, nothing extreme yet. Then work your way up from there. I would also suggest going to a salon, but if you REALLY don't want to then whatever works.

yep, that is a beautiful colour, but you're not going to get it in that intensity unless you remove some of the colour from your hair first. sorry, just how it works. you can try to put something on top of your existing colour but that's all you'll be doing mixing the two together. you won't get the intensity your looking for. it doesn't matter which brand your looking at, they all work the same. but, a salon will help you keep the condition of your hair so it won't dry out as much.

when in doubt, bleach. bleach your hair in the morning, then that night, dye it, and leave in the dye for the amount of time it says on the box plus the amount you bleached it for so if it says leave in for 20 min, and when you bleached it, you left it in for 25 min. then leave in the dye for 45 min, and it will look like the box and you dont have to bleach out the color compleatly. just till it is very light!

if you just want a red tint, any brand of hair dye will work. get a dark reddish color and it should show up pretty good

before that, don't be mad with me, cause i have a suggestion for you. maybe you can cut your hair a long layer. and then choose the bright color to your hair. blonde or brown. how bout Loreal? i think it's awesome.

have a nice day!

Please do not bleach your hair blonde then add a red over it, you might look like it was done at home. The reason why her hair looks like it has a red tint is because of the flash of the camera that illuminates over the color she has in her hair. If you want that effect and decide to do it at home use a dye with red tone over your black hair although it will look like there is no color in your hair in indoor light, the color will show during the day. If you should not agree, then take the picture to a professional to get it done, the last thing you want to do is damage your hair with bleach and hair dye.
