I would definately take a picture! The barbers are trained to identify the best way to make your hair look the way you want it to, either by verbal description or by pictures. In fact there is less room for error when using pictures, as when communicating verbally there can be a lot of words that we use as (such as razor cut, shaved, buzzed, layered...heck even short) that can be misunderstood. For example, short can be a matter of opinion and one person's idea of short can be inches off compared to another person's.

I see no problem in taking in pictures, most places usually have hair style/cut books on hand to help customers convey exactly the cut and style they want. This is that common. By taking in your own pictures, this would save time and you can be guaranteed to find the specific pictures of the exact style you want. I would recommend good clear pictures and possibly some pictures showing as much of the style as possible, including the top, front and side...if you can manage to find a separate picture of the back as well that would be perfect. I do this to my hair stylist all of the time. In fact if I find pictures of styles similar to my desired style, but they have something about them I don't want...I take those pictures along too, so I can be specific about the things I don't want as well!

Yes, the barbers use shavers and razors and hair cutting shears/scissors...all of that! They don't just shave heads like in the military! They have to cut, and fade hair all of the time along with using other tools.

Don't forget, if you like the results of the cut...ask the barber what to ask for specifically next time, so that it can be done easily in the future. Knowing what to call what you want done is really helpful...then you won't need to carry a picture(s) and any barber you visit (or hair stylist at a salon) can do it for you!

I am a stylist, and pictures are always helpful. When you consult with your barber, ask him/her if this style is attainable on your hair first. Texture, color, length, all play in to this. Many girls bring pics of jessica simpson, and it's just not going to happen... hehe!! If you go to a good barber, they should do scissor cuts. Many barbers are in and out type buzz cut factories. Think about going to a hair salon that specializes in men and women, where stylists are used to creative scissor cutting, not just one quick cut all day long.......

I style many men, and very rare do I use a buzzer. These men go to the barber. The men that come to me, enjoy a personalized cut where I consult, take time, and they walk out with a cut that nobody else has. Not like a 1, 1 1/2, 2, and 3 1/2 clip fade like the rest of mankind. why not? in that way, the barber could have the best picture on how you want your hair done rather than just talking. it could also lessen misinterpretations.

a wide barrell curling iron, after using the iron, DONT brush, just hairspray it.

Blow dry it with a big round brush, and once it's dried run a curling iron (1 1/2 inch) through strands of your hair to make loose curls. spray gel or hairspry works too when you're holding the strand of hair in the curling iron to keep the curls in place for longer.

Blow dry upside down for volume, use hot rollers with mousse (with smaller sections), leave in until the curlers are cool to the touch, run fingers through hair to separate curls (don't use a brush-- they'll fall quicker), then finalize with hairspray! My hair is that length, so this style is quick and easy for me to do in the mornings and stays all day-- I get lots of compliments on it! Good luck!

To create this style, you'll need:

Shine serum (for your wet hair)

A blowdryer

A roundbrush

A 1" barrel curling iron

Volumizing hairspray

A teasing comb

A ponytail holder

A scarf or headband (optional)

Steps:

1. Apply shine serum to wet hair, then blowdry smooth with round brush.

2. Curl the ends of your hair with the curling iron. Let them hang in ringlets-you'll smooth them later.

3. Next, you'll need to tease your hair. A lot. Here's how it's done:

Gather a small section of hair from the crown of your head that's about 1-2 inches in thickness.

Hold the ends of the new section straight up and out from the scalp with one hand. You'll be backcombing your strands in the opposite direction from its natural growth pattern. With the other hand, run the comb down the length of the hair from the end towards the base of the scalp in short, sharp and uniform strokes. If you don't achieve enough teased hair or height in the first pass, repeat the process until the hair has the right fullness, height and texture.

4. Spray newly teased sections with the volumizing hairspray. Repeat after each new section is created.Once the first section is completely teased, pick up the next section of hair and repeat the process until all the hair from the crown of your head have been backcombed.

5. You'll want to use a brush to carefully smooth the teased hair back in the opposite direction without flattening all your work.

6. Once hair is totally teased and smooth, secure it in a low ponytail at the nape or your neck.

7. Use your fingers to rake through the ringlets at the ends of your hair, or twist them together for a more polished look.

8. Finish with another mist of spray. You're done!

Wash hair, towel dry, comb, apply mouse and scrunch...and it looks like she has hers held back to her right with a small clip. It's a very easy hairstyle, but it's on the stiff/crunchy side, so if you want to run your hands through it, you won't be able too otherwise it'll get tangled.

Your hair being curly, this style will look even better on you rather than on a person with straight hair. Unless you were going to straighten it. Wash, comb if you need to, apply mouse, dry just the top with the dryer facing down towards your scalp/part, leave the bottom just a little damp so it retains some of it's curl.

Um after you wash it, put mousse, or gel in it, scrunch it up, dry it. And then if you want it to be even more wavy take a 1" curling iron, on max heat, and wrap your hair around it (keeping the barrel closed) leave about a half inch to an inch of hair at the end so you dont burn yourself...it really does work I have stick straight hair and this made my hair really pretty.

Sally's is the best. I would never try any where else. That is the only place I get my dye from. Sure, CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart might be cheaper but it's not that great.

There's obviously a difference because my hair is smoother in the 2nd picture, but the ends aren't straight and I hate how in the humidity it ends up looking like the first picture. I really want to do Japanese straightening. If you have the money to pay for it, is it worth it?

And when I brush it it gets puffy and frizzy.... and I mean really puffy

It might help by telling you I am half white and half black and my hair is down to my butt. Throw your brush away. You should never brush afro hair, it's one of the fundamental rules.

Get an afro comb and when you've washed it, spray all over with a good leave in conditioner and comb through with the afro comb, then let it dry naturally, don't use a hair dryer, this is what's making your hair so dry.

Please don't cut your hair.

First off NEVER use a brush or small toothed comb on your hair,second carefully detangle your hair while it is full with conditioner.

I'am bi-racial as well and always had my hair cut to about chinlength because I could not handle it.

I would highly suggest you try to read a book about curly hair or go on of the many online groups that discuss black haircare.

Just google black haircare or go to amazon to look for books about curly,kinky hair.

with your hair type you are not suppose to brush it unless it's with a detangling brush and when the hair is wet, and has conditioner in it. you can use garnier curl n' shine it really makes your curls pop so you can wear your hair down more; use a honey %26amp; olive oil mixure as a deep conditioner it really moisturizes the hair. do not comb your hair when it is dry, do all of your styling when your hair is wet then let it air dry.

Waves are simply curls. In order for your hair to wave you must first be able to develop a curl. Correct me if I'm wrong but you said your hair was short and straight, and the only way I see possible for your hair to become wavy is by : 1st allow your hair to grow and have your stylist to braid (or twist) your hair. Once you take the braids (or twists) out you should have developed a wave pattern to your hair. My second suggestion would be for your stylist to "rod set" your hair. This also will call for your hair to be at least 2 1/2 inches long.

If it's all one length and really thick, I would suggest getting long layers to reduce the bulk. NEVER get it razored thin. That would just cause frizz and destroy the natural wave/curl. Also STOP brushing your hair. Only detangle in the shower with a wide tooth comb coated in conditioner. Brushing dry waves and curls causes your hair to frizz and expand. Have you used a diffuser? A diffuser is a dryer with either a sock (looks kind of like a suction cup) or a bowl (has fingers) attachments. What it does is dry the curls without blowing them around. I have wavy/curly hair myself and it works wonders.

Also, I think its a good idea to get either reg. bands that go above your eyebrowns or side parted bangs. If you can offord it i would get a perm and make it wavy but nice :] Keep your natural hair.

Okay, all I have is paint, (the free that comes with the computer), and arcsoft photoimpresssion. I can change the eye color to blue or green and hair color to red, but the only colors the hue and saturation bar will go to (on photoimpression) are the wild colors such as diff. shades of blue, green, purple, and red, no other color! I know how to select the hair and all but I can't change it to the right color. And on paint I can only do pixel by pixel which would take days. HELP my mom wants to see herself as blonde and a natural red-head not some waky red head.

for the shirt, don't wear something too loud, because it could distract from your face.

for makeup, don't go too overboard. you might end up looking like a clown. Try wearing a rose-colored blush to add some color to your cheeks so you don't look too washed out. again, not too much, you WILL look like a clown. Lip gloss also photographs well. Wear eyeliner on the top of your eye and a tiny bit on the outer corner under your eye. If you have blue eyes, try a rich chocolate brown or simple black. For green eyes, try the brown. i would wear you hair down and straight. do your makeup the same way you would wear it to school. but don't put tons of eye linner on for pictures it doesn't look that great. just a light brown that is noticeable but not too dark. for your shirt it wondent really madder cuzzz it wont really show up but don't get all dressed up for it wear a plane cute cut top. but nothing too bright like not orange or red.maybe a white, blue, or a pinkish top but make sure it is not a Bright pink it should be a settle pink.

well I am 13 and this is what I do for a party or a dance sometimes picture day so for your shirt, I would wear a shirt that the sleeves go to like ur elbow, they usually call them dorm room thermals probably a green/hazel color or a blue possibly brown to match ur eyes, ok for your hair I would straighten it to make ur highlights stand out it might take a little while because ur hair is thick but it will look AWESOME, because everyone is used to seeing u with ur hair wavy, finally for makeup If u are going with a green/hazel I would wear a smokey eyeshadow or a greyish eyeshadow so if you go with the slate background your eyes will stand out then the usual mascara and eyeliner then wear a natural lip gloss or lip stick a light pink, light brown or tan, srry I typed so much I have to practice on being detailed. did that help?

As for hair, don't do ponytails. A side ponytail is the only exception. I'd try maybe straitening your hair witn a side part and a pretty clip. For make - up try bronze and light reds and light pinks. Hope it helps and good luck!

OK, first of all, u can't cut curly hair unless ur only trimmimg it!And I know this because I have corkscrew curly hair that when u let it just hang there and dry out, it turns into a monster that's twice the size of Hermione's hair from harry potter. Now my mom also has curly hair, and when she was 12, she cut it short and shes kept it sort, but when she cut it, her hair just permanently stayed a big catstrophy and I wasn't until she had surgery, did her hair actually calm down and that was only because her hair started falling out!!!So never ever cut ur hair short!!!

wait for it to grow out again, its at that awkward stage where it cant just hang straight, caue the ends cnat reach anything! I think of it as a magnet, your hair is pulled towrd ou, so if it cant reach your shoulders, it curls in, if i is really short and the ends still touch your head, it will take lots of hairspray to get it to stick up. Just let it hang for now, but to sto oi, you can sleep in curlers, just make sure your hair is being curled out. Curlers may either straigten yout hair, or make it fly out depending on how thick your hair is, the thinner you hair, the looser the curler.

since you got your hair cut, the ends of your hair are trying to adjust and find out which way they are going to swing, so for about a week or so all you can really do is shampoo it, condition it and if you striaghten it, flare out the ends so if they try to curl under, your hair looks straight!! hope that helped

hey.. your hairdresser probably gave you layers that "frame your face", and that's what they do! If you sleep on it a certain way it will do that, but in the morning after you shower, blowdry your hair away from your face and it won't curve in. Then just straighten it some more to help it stay curved away from your face. :)

are you really looking for facial hair styles or girlfriends? The chin strap thing is no good, sorry. if you must have the fruit mold on face, do a small patch on your chin and sideburns. Chin straps make everyone's face look pudgy and strange, I don't care how good-looking you are, and full-on fuzz is creepy. a patch on your chin would look well-kept, mature and classy. ok I have frizzy hair and this works with me so: Before you get into the shower, wet your hair with cold water. then massage it through your hair ike you have shampoo in it.. Whenyour done, comb your hair as straight as you can get it. Then I know it sounds gross but massage a cup of milk through your hair this will ensure softness and silkiness which is most important for pin-straight hair! Keep the milk in for about a minute and a half and rinse out with lukewarm water. After the milk is completely rinsed out, lightly shampoo your hair and then rise out with cold water. Then lightly condition hair then rinse out with lukewarm water. After you've completely rinsed out both shampoo and conditioner, towel dry off any extra water. Wrap hair in towel, and leave the towel in there for about 5 min. Unwrap your hair, and completely blow-dry it. make sure all of the hair is totally dry before continuing. Part your hair into a half ponytail. Clip upper section hair very high up. Set hair straightener to appropriate setting for your hair and wait until it has warmed up to the appropriate heat setting. Spray the bottom half of your hair lightly with hair spray and massage the hair spray in lightly going from top to bottom for a couple seconds.

Thoroughly straighten bottom half, using small parts at a time, and when your done add some more hairspray, and massage it in. Now clip the bottom half of your hair LOOSELY and un-clip top half. Do the same thing that you did for the bottom half. Then when your done, fix any little curls left, or any other issues. Remember to straighten your bangs if you have any! Once done with everything, add any extra hair spray /gel /mousse /gloss spray that is needed. Remember: aim for perfection! One last thing: always comb your hair [with a COMB] after straigtening any section
