I went in with gorgeous hair and took a picture of a style I wanted....not that much different than what I had and I came out with hair a quarter of an inch long in the back and top. How would you handle this without doing something ilegal like shaving her head?????

I'm just lucky that I actually had the face to pull it off. my hair had finally just grew back to where is almost as long as it was before i cut it. I never went back to that lady again and I was faithful to her

You shouldn't have walked out with it looking the way it did. She needs to know up front if you are pleased or not. If after voicing your thoughts you are getting no where, then you need to find another stylist. However, most stylists are very good and try not to take these things personally as it does happen. Go back and tell her that you aren't happy and see if she can help you come up with some ideas to make it better.

Most reputable stylists won't charge you for the visit. I would wait a couple of months for it to grow and I would be a bit angry but I never do my hair at the salon but at home. Just buy the best products in store and do it yourself at home. It's easy and the result is much more beautiful. You can also get a wig to hide it for a while or hair extinctions. Good luck. Hope you find a way to work it out.

I would never go there again and I would tell everyone you know not to go there either. I would also speak to the salon owner/manager and make sure they know just how upset you are.

Take lots of photos of the new hideous hairstyle, find a recent photo of how you had your hair before, sue her and use all the photos as evidence, including the photo of what you wanted your hair to look like...Wear a hat or a wig or put up your hair for the next few months until it grows out again.
Ladies..what would you do if your stylist messed your hair up beyond repair? I had this problem but it was the colour that was done wrong on me. I went to trading standards and they said to go to a few other salons and ask what they would have done, if I'd have gone to them in the first place, and if I can get at least 2 to say that the one I went to had done it wrong then I could go back and get them to do it again or demand a refund. They also said that if you have a valid reason for saying that they did it wrong then they have to give you a refund or if you want they have to re-do your hair.
However, if they were an untrained stylist posing as a trained one then you can file legal procedings, but you'll be hard pushed to find a lawyer who will take such a small case. All you can hope to get from it is some compensation money that probably won't cover the legal fees. I'd just threaten a law suit and they'll settle out of court. If this isn't an option for you then you can always spread the word to friends and family that the salon is rubbish. Word of mouth is very powerful.
